Are there any possible explanations why your business still isn’t listed on Google Places – at the top of Google search results? If you are not using Google Places, you are ignoring a huge opportunity to dominate your competitors and get more clients.

Google Places, formerly known as Google Local, is an online local listing service that consumers are using to find businesses. Today we will share some reasons why you should be using Google Places are additional promoting source.

Simple Advertising. When your Google Places listing is optimized properly, your business listing appears on the first page of Google. Do not mix Google Places with Google Ads, you will not be promoted on the first rows, however, Google Places come just below them. Moreover, if your business is a cafe/restaurant/jazz bar, then it is very useful to list opening times and a phone number, because it makes easier for people to plan their evening. Below is the screenshot of my search for nightclubs in London. The clubs which are listed on Google Places go before all the rest results.

Business photo shoots – It is widely known that people get more information from the images. So, upload photos of your business right now!  Moreover, for the citizens of Australia, USA and Japan, Google offer a nice service: they can create a virtual photo-tour of the interior of their business absolutely for free. Sign up here – but we will be waiting for Google to reach the UK with this service.

Special Offers. You can add special offers to your Google Places listing, so that the customers can print the coupon, and come to your firm to use it. Coupons can also be optimized for mobile phones, in other words, if you forgot where you have scissors, it’s not a problem J.

Real-time updates – Running a special event or a promotional campaign? Google Place offers real-time updates to communicate news directly to your customers (status updates 160 characters long). You can also provide extra incentive by adding coupons, including ones specially formatted for mobile phones.

Analytics – To keep track of your business performing on Google Places, a special dashboard is offered within Google Places that represents information on how many times people found your business, which keywords they used, and also the location of the customers.
